2. How Do SMD LED Displays Work?

 

The SMD LED has 3-in-1 encapsulation. In other words, it integrates three cells into one system. Each system has a luminescent element or light semiconductor that emits light whenever electric current flows through it.

The SMD LED each has a cathode contact and an anode contact for each semiconductor luminescent element.

These LED squares are soldered on the panel circuit board through a process called polarization using high-tech equipment. It is a crucial step for SMD technology to prevent loose attachment or non-functioning LEDs.

Protective resins are then used to cover the upper/outer part of the chip to protect it from scratch or intrusion, which can damage or affect its light quality. The resins are available in different shades and colors.

Each SMD LED type has four-digit. These numbers that you see after “SMD” refer to the size of LED used in the LED display. The first two digits refer to the length, and the next two refer to the height (tenths of mm).
